God’s Soap Opera

I lead the women’s Bible study at our church on Sunday mornings. We are on a long journey studying the women of the Bible. This study will probably last us a couple of years as we do an in depth study of the “Bad Girls, Slightly Bad Girls and the Really Bad girls of the Bible”. These girls that Liz Curtis Higgs describes as so. This study will also include many other prominent and not so prominent women of the Bible as well. This week we will finish up the “Slightly Bad girls” and move on to the “Really Bad girls.” I have thoroughly enjoyed studying these women with the ladies in my class. We have laughed so much as we learn how these women are really a lot like us or perhaps it’s the other way around, we are a lot like them. Either way, we are discovering a lot about ourselves through God’s word. We are discovering that when you dig deep into his word, you’ll think you got lost in a soap opera. There is so much drama in these women’s lives. So many of them I have heard their stories my whole life, but I have never studied them the way we are now. We really do have so much to learn from them. God used them in some amazing ways, just like he wants to use us today if we will only let him. It is my desire to live a life that is pleasing to God. We can only do that when we know what He wants for us and expects of us. So let me encourage you to either come join our class or begin your personal study of all the women in the Bible. Each one offers some significance to what God wants us to learn. I think you will find that they are just as amazing as you are! Have a great week!
